This work is concerned with representing the movement of the air caused by sound. It uses smoke to materialise a visual index of music in a quasi-scientific experiment in which a stable column of smoke was ‘moved’ by different sounds. Each individual image is the result of the movement caused by a particular piece of music. When viewed simultaneously, the seven photographs form a single wave, which shifts colour in reference to the luminous spectrum.
